Anti-Religion Pro-God

What if Religions are "Right?" How Do I Find "Truth?"

Remember when you were a child? Truth was simple then. Truth was what you simply knew to be true. Truth was something someone could show you clearly and easily. What happened to that simplicity? How did we ever lose it? If another kid was mean, we knew he was mean. No one could talk us into believing that his motives were good, or that there were "reasons" for his "apparent" meanness. If someone snubbed us, we knew they were snubbing us, excluding us, thinking they were better than us. We didn't buy into their beliefs and blame ourselves for being intolerant. Truth should be that simple. If someone else's truth excludes half the people on the planet, how can it possibly be true? It's not logical. It's not real. It's just silliness. When we were children, we knew this. How could we have lost so much common sense as adults?

The answer to that question is, FEAR. We need to feel like part of a group. We need to belong. We want a crowd to follow, to blend into, to surround ourselves with, to pad ourselves with, to make us feel safe and protected. We're social beings; there's nothing wrong with that. The only problem comes when we give up our own intelligence to be part of a group. It's scary to be a leader, to go out on our own. But if more of us do it, we won't have to be alone.

All over the world there are people who are leaving their religions in search of truth. They don't have all the answers, but who can possibly have all the answers anyway? These people simply have the courage to look at facts and evaluate them using the intelligence they were given. They have returned to the simplicity they were born with. Their journey may or may not help you find your way. It doesn't matter! There are many, many paths on this journey, and we each have to find our own. But if someone else's path does help you, then join hands and share it for as long as your journey is going in the same direction. Then part company in peace, respect, and mutual acceptance for the heart of another being who is also searching for the simplicity of truth.

And yet, there remains... The Search for Meaning
